HNT: My fish, Skye

I love animals, but severe allergies make it impossible for me to have a cat or dog (no, not even the ones with hair instead of fur). So I've had a succession of betta fish.

Fido was the first one. I won him as the centerpiece at our best man's wedding and carried him back from the Cape on my lap. He lasted about a year and then kicked it. M bought Fido II for me as a replacement, but he lasted less than a month, and M brought him back to the pet store and traded him for the beautiful but nasty creature you see before you. Since he's a gorgeous blue, I named him Skye.

Skye is not as cuddly as a golden retriever nor does he rub against your legs purring like a kitty, but he gets the job done like Big Daddy Kane. (And by the way, to answer Chappelle's question, pimpin' ain't easy.) I love watching him swim, and like a dog, he does respond to me by coming to the top of the tank when he hears me open it. He may be a simple fish, but he knows when he's getting fed. So here's to my blue Skye.
