Catholic lite

M and I were both raised Catholic. But we have had our issues with the Catholic Church, so we went new church-shopping. We checked out the Congregational Church, and while they were nice, we felt it was just too different from how we were raised. Unitarians were a bit too out there. So we checked out the Episcopalians.

We are really enjoying church.

They don't call it Catholic lite for nothing. The service is very similar to a Catholic mass, but different enough to be interesting. Other reasons we like them:

  • Priests/reverends are allowed to marry.
  • Abortion is not this evil sin.
  • Divorce is OK.
  • As long as you are a baptized Christian, you can receive communion. In the Roman Catholic church, you have to be Catholic.
  • There are a lot of social activities, including coffee hour after Sunday service.
Now, I'm no holy roller. But God is important to me. And it's important to M. And when we have a family, I would like to raise my children with religion. So I'm happy about it. Especially since M takes me out for breakfast afterwards!
