Don't go, Brighton!
There are certain blogs I read daily. One is Snickolett's. Another is A Day in the Night of a Stripper. I love Brighton, AKA Trish, who dishes straight up on her family, her work, her ex-profession of exotic dancing and anything else that comes to mind. She's real, honest and someone I wish I knew offline.
Unfortunately, Trish has been hit by trolls -- as well as by family members who feel compelled to bitch about what she writes about, even after she's repeatedly asked them to stay off her blog. She's shutting down her blog, for reasons she says have nothing to do with these outside forces, but read between the lines: They are driving her out.
The blogosphere is a funny, funny place. You can peek into the lives of people you've never met and would never meet, and see what their daily lives are like. As a blogger, there's always a line you have to straddle between disclosure and discretion. I admittedly wasn't really good at that when I first started this blog, but I've gotten better at it. My family doesn't know about this blog, but even if they did, they wouldn't find anything about them here. Trish made a different choice, and while I wouldn't make it myself, I respect her for it. And want her to keep on keepin' on.
Trish, if you find this, please know I love your writing and think you're amazing. And I hope you stay. If not, thanks for the memories. You've brightened up my days considerably.
