Time to bring out the winter coat

Jody talked yesterday about how freaking cold it's been in the mornings. This morning, I put on my long wool skirt and my winter jacket. (Not the new one -- this one is lighter, but not by much.) I got a lot of compliments on it, but jeez Louise, it's cold. My flowers have all but given up the ghost.

And as of yesterday, I have 100-plus bulbs in my downstairs refrig that need planting. Whoo-wee! If anyone has any good tips on keeping the varmints away from them once they're in the ground (besides putting hot sauce on the dirt over them), please share. I'm not busting my ass to put them in to give the chipmunks and squirrels lunch.
