It's a beautiful day
I had a whole post in mind about my depression and how I wait for happiness to find me again when I'm like that, but I think I've been enough of a downer for awhile. Let's move onto more neutral (and currently happier) topics: The weather this summer has rocked out.
It was hot as blue you-know-what yesterday, but today's temp is like 70s with no humidity and nice breezes. We had a thunderstorm last night, which knocked out power in many parts of my town (including my house), but it came back on relatively quickly, and no harm no foul. Some people weren't so lucky. In the meantime, I took my mentee out for coffee yesterday. She chatted a blue streak about her life, her friends, her issues, etc. I think she was saving it up, since we haven't seen each other in about a month due to her vaca. I'll see her next Wednesday, too.
So in the spirit of a more uplifting post today, here are the things I'm grateful for:
- My relatively good health
- My husband
- My family
- My job (yes, it's true)
- My education
- My home
- My level-headedness
- My gorgeous green eyes
- The fact that I didn't marry half the guys I dated (and you know who you are, muthafuckas)
- My friends, who have stuck by me through a lot of shit, including adolescence
- My ability to write
- My intelligence
- My fashion sense (I love clothes)
- My kindness and sensitivity
That's a lot. I feel better. Count your blessings. I know it sounds trite, but it works, and you'll recognize how lucky you are.
