I feel good, na na na na na na na
...I knew that I would...
So I'm starting to feel better. Even though yesterday, M pushed me into his mother's pool. Fully clothed. Thank goodness it was hot, and I was wearing a black T-shirt instead of a white one. Then his uncle and grandma, who were visiting, would have gotten a free show. I was also wearing denim shorts, and they took forever to dry out. M's nonna yelled, "I can't believe he did that! Cut him off for a week!" Hot damn, I didn't think an old lady knew about that. M said, "Oh, she's not going to cook for me for a week?" Nonna said, "You know what I mean!"
So as penance, I made M go blueberry and raspberry picking with me at this farm nearby. The weather couldn't have been more beautiful. We picked four pints of blueberries and a pint of raspberries. I've already baked lowfat blueberry muffins, and we had blueberry pancakes for dinner. Yum. I'm going to see if I can find a recipe for blueberry jelly, even though I've never made it before. I was going to bake a blueberry cake, but I decided we don't need the calories. I've put on about five pounds, and I'm pretty fricking disgusted with myself. I went to Talbots today and bought aqua shoes and aqua pants. The latter were a size 10 petite and tighter than they should be . The shoes were only $24, marked down from $68, which is why I bought aqua shoes. I told myself I wouldn't buy the shoes, as gorgeous as they were, unless I could find clothes to match, and voila! I found these great seersucker pants for $26, marked down from $64, which means I paid less than half what I would have paid full-price. M squawked when I came home, but he can bite me. I'm Ms. Brown-Black-White-Shoes, and now I'm branching out into colors. I actually bought pink shoes this year, and last year, I bought red. I'm getting adventurous in my old age!
So the other big news is that our screenhouse is almost up. We bought it at Namco, and M and his dad put up the aluminum frame. We had to put up the netting, and ironically enough, the bugs were eating us alive, so we had to stop. Funny story: During a break, I was patting the golden next door, Colby, and I was running along the fence to play with him when I fell into a sinkhole and twisted my ankle but good. I had to sit and absorb the pain for a minute (I twisted it good; it still hurts), and the puppy started barking like mad. M and I were joking he's like Lassie, getting me help.
Finally, we went to Target yesterday. Two T-shirts: $10 Two toilet brushes: $10. A Caramel Light Frappacino from the in-store Starbucks for me (I love me some Starbucks, friend): $4. A blue raspberry Icee for M: $1. Having a Target within five miles? Priceless. And I'm not the only one who's happy. I no longer totally live in the sticks!
