Madonna's new album, Confessions on a Dance Floor

So like I do every time she releases something new, I ran out to buy Confessions on a Dance Floor the first day (yesterday). M hates Madonna, and I took his car in today (it has an in-dash CD player, while mine only has a crappy tape deck), so I had to hear him mocking the album all the way in. On one listen, I can say that while it's decent, it's uneven -- typical of her last two releases. I think there are four or five great songs on it, and I remember putting on Madonna albums and being able to listen to them all the way through while I was cleaning or whatever. Yeah, she's still cool, but age has mellowed her, and not all in a good way. Here's Rolling Stone's take on the whole business.

We finally bought a bookcase last night. I found it on Craig's List, and I called the people up and went over there. M tried to get them to come down on price, but no dice, so we paid full price. Do you like it? I can't wait to fill it all up with books. My current bookcase is sagging under 20 years' worth of books. It's pine with thin shelves, and when you read as much as I do, you need something sturdy. The new one is pine as well, but it's really substantive. It currently resides in my living room, because M and I are not going to attempt to climb the stairs with it. His dad will come help us this weekend.

And on the M health watch, he was getting ready this morning, and I noticed big, blue bruises on the backs of his legs. Not good when you're on Coumadin. I told him to call the doc immediately. Sigh. Will it never end?
