A day in Danvers
I spent today at a baby shower for my cousin's wife, held here. I have tons of family in Dan-vis, and it's my mom's hometown. Yet I never had any desire to live there. Neither does M -- he calls it the toxic waste dump of the North Shore.
It was really a lovely day to be by the water. I reconnected with lots of people I hadn't seen in years and enjoyed some seriously good food. Most importantly, I saw my toes for the first time in six months. I was actually able to wear sandals. And short sleeves, too! Then I stopped in to see my bro and my doggie niece. She haunts whichever visitor will pat her, nuzzling your hands and giving you her paw. Does wonders for my allergies, let me tell you.
And as for April Fools? M called me on the cell to tell me a piece of our ceiling fell in. I drove home as fast as I could (sorry, any cop readers) to find him cackling about how he had fooled me. Stinker! I can still get him tomorrow, as it's April Fools Day weekend. Help me hatch a plan.
I'll try to come up with something more interesting to write about tomorrow.
