I had an ice cream sundae today
My company had a "Fundae" break for us today. We had six kinds of ice cream from Richardson's Ice Cream with all the fixins to make a sundae. I had cookie dough ice cream with hot fudge, caramel, Heath bar pieces, whipped cream and two cherries. I have been a bad, bad girl. As penance, I had no lunch and no dinner and took a two-mile walk. Go me.
So I found out today that my allergist has voluntarily agreed to not practice medicine. Considering this gentleman has prescribed me drugs, I was concerned. I called the Mass Board of Medicine, and they wouldn't tell me anything. I Googled his name repeatedly in different combinations (Alfred E. Newman, Alfred Newman, Dr. Alfred Newman, Alfred Newman, MD) and searched the local papers, but no hits. I even searched for his email address and emailed him to ask what the fuck is going on. His answering machine simply says that his office is closed until futher notice and he'll be sending out a letter. Umm, bud, according to the Mass board, you gave up your license in March, and it's the height of the allergy season. I ain't seen no letter. I had to call my PCP to get some Singulair so I don't drop dead of an asthma attack. I've been congested and had chest pains, which could have something to do with the fact that I kept forgetting to call the doc for a refill and haven't taken my asthma meds in a week. Somehow, my asthma drugs are easier for me to deal with than my psych meds. I can deal with the fact there's something physically wrong with me; mentally, well, that's another story.
So I also went to Target and bought a new white T-shirt (old one had some nasty-ass yellow pit stains), some liquid Miracle-Gro for my philodendron, some candy for the office and some Splenda packets for my desk. Said allergist railed against artificial sweetners and loved Splenda because it's made from sugar. He said Equal, Sweet n' Low, etc. exacerbate asthma and allergies. Hey, I think Splenda tastes better anyway.
I'm still freaked about my allergist. Anyone know why he would voluntarily give up his medical license? Would he have had to do something really bad?
