Let the truth be told

Anyone who really knows me is aware of my obsession with the truth. I'm a true-blue Sagittarius, in that lying and untruth are not in my moral code. I'm honest to the point of bluntness. This is a good point and a bad point, all at the same time. Good in that honesty is usually the best policy, but bad in that white lies make the world go round. It's also bad when I get up in my head and expect other people to be as honest as me.

This whole business with the book A Million Little Pieces is of great interest to me. I haven't read it, but I did read Augusten Burrough's Running with Scissors and have his other memoir, Dry, on my bookshelf to read later. This commentary about Oprah coming clean on the controversy is right on, in my humble opinion. I'm an Oprah fan, anyway, because she is so honest and real. You can't doubt her sincerity, like her or not (and I know tons of people in the latter category). And when she strayed from the truth, a la this AMLP flap, she admitted her mistake. Live. On national television. You gotta admire that. As the last line in the article says, our national leaders could learn a thing or two.

And according to CNN's latest Gallup poll, we gots no faith in our fearless leader. Shocker, I know.
