Mommying en masse

Despite my postpartum depression issues and sometimes sense of isolation, I have not yet joined a mother's group. It's just not happened for me, although it's been in the back of my mind to do. Then I read about a local group and decided to check it out. And since I am now a SAHM, I'm thinking it might be a good idea.

So now I am considering joining said group, not only for Boo's socialization but for mine. I may check out some of their public events this week. My question to other moms: What has been your experience with mother's groups? I know you can't lump them all in, but generally, are they cool or a waste of time?
