A long long-weekend post

So I'm writing this with fireworks going off in the background. Someone in our neighborhood, M and I can't figure out who, lights off real, honest-to-goodness, need-a-permit-for-ones-this-cool fireworks, sometimes even a few nights a week. Tonight in honor of the fourth tomorrow, they had an extravaganza. It was cool. I watched out the window and marveled at my gorgeous house, great-looking lawn and sweetie of a husband who was draining the pool below. There are poopies floating in it, which he has tried to remove with the skimmer, and he finally decided to just drain it and clean the shit out of it. They are seriously gross. In the meantime, dogs barked in reaction to the noise, and my neighbors cheered from their homes. Don't know if we're going to look at any fireworks tomorrow.

We went to a barbecue yesterday and another one today. Good Lord, am I getting fat again. I've been depressed, so I've eaten everything in sight (especially foods containing sugar). I don't want to recover from this bout of depression and be a fattie McFat. So I gotta exercise/cool it on the overeating/count my WW points again. Keeerist almighty.

We put up a new mailbox today with a vinyl post, because the old wooden post was getting rotten, and I wanted something maintenance-free. It's bad enough our wooden fence is rotting. I want to replace it with vinyl, too, but that's going to cost at least $1K. I know, exciting shit. But the new post and mailbox look great. The mailbox is hand-painted with pansies. My father-in-law, who's super handy, pulled the old one out and put the new post up. M's attitude was there was nothing wrong with the old one, but even he concedes that the new post looks really nice and gives our home tons of curb appeal. I respread mulch in front of it and some around the roses, trimmed the bushes and the birch tree and pulled weeds. M cut the front and back grass. House looks great. M also went to Namco and bought us a 12 x 10' screenhouse so we can sit in the yard at night and not get eaten alive.

OK, more than you wanted to know about my boring suburban life. Check out pictures of my blog friend Jody's new cockapoo puppy.
