A post from the Berkshires

We're out here in Great Barrington, which is a mighty cute little town. We're staying at the Holiday Inn Express, and I really like this hotel. We have a heart-shaped Jacuzzi in our room, and we've been getting a lot of use out of it. M really likes it, surprisingly enough. I did a few laps in the nice, warm pool. We also went to Bass Bish Falls in Mount Washington. The falls are incredible, but we also went because my dear friend Katie, who died about seven years ago of a rare form of cancer (she was only 25), has her ashes scattered there. I felt the place where she was. It was strange, exhilarating and sad all at once.

We also walked around downtown GB (so cute). We took the Pike out here, and we're gonna take the long way home (i.e., Route 7 to Route 2). Along the way, I'm hoping to get M to stop here to get some sidelight curtains for the front hall. Their flagship store is in Stockbridge at the Red Lion Inn. We've eaten really well on this trip, maybe too well. We had dinner tonight at a new Chinese restaurant called Koi. It was amazing. Last night, for M's birthday, we went to a great Italian place in GB called Viviani's on the advice of the front desk clerk. And today, I had cake batter ice cream at the SoCo Creamery, which makes ice cream in microbatches. Yummers. That diet has to start next week. :)
