This is the last time I'm going to mention it

Newsweek named Bill Belichick's little temper tantrum at the end of the Super Bowl the least classy move of the week on its Dignity Index. He came ahead of Internet viral video star Amber Lee Ettinger (AKA Obama Girl) and Corey freaking Haim. M is so traumatized by the events of a week and a half ago, mentioning the Pats, football or the Super Bowl is verboten in my house. But I'm going to say it right here: Belichick, get help.

I stayed up for that?

After that last touchdown, I knew it was all over for the Pats but the crying. Which I heard coming from downstairs in a long, keening wail.

At the 2 a.m. feeding this morning, M woke up, looked at me and Boo and said, "It wasn't a bad dream? The Patriots really lost the Super Bowl?"

"I'm afraid so," I answered.

And speaking of losers, Belichick, get over yourself. Stomping off the field like a baby. You're like school on Sunday: No class. You lost. Be gracious in defeat.

Until next year...

Our Beavis and Butt-Head moment

We were watching a college football game last night together before Grey's Anatomy started and we moved to opposite ends of the house when we heard that the quarterback for South Carolina was named Chris Smelley. We almost fell off our chairs laughing. I mean, imagine the comedy possibilities:

What a Smelley pass!
That had Smelley written all over it!
Smelley fires right...
Headline after a game: Smelley stinks

OK, yes, we are stuck in third grade. But the third grader in both of us had a good laugh and I had to share.

Keep Michael Vick off the field

I recently stumbled across this, which allows you to email NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, to voice your disapproval at Michael Vick's dogfighting and calling for his suspension. I urge you to send a message in support of this worthy cause.

Michael Vick makes me sick

Not only is Vick facing up to 18 months in the joint, he's looking at a lifetime suspension from the NFL. And supposedly, playing football is the most important thing in the world to him. Other than killing innocent animals by the most gruesome means you can imagine. If you have to kill a dog (shudder), why would you torture and maim him first?

I read this morning that football fans are donating Vick T-shirts to the shelters in Atlanta in protest. I say good. If you want to do something, I suggest helping the animals in your local shelter who are there through no fault of their own. You can go to this site to find local shelters.

Super Bowl myths

I am very into urban legends. Check out these about Super Bowl Sunday. Very interesting.
