I'm back from vacation. I will recap my cruise to Bermuda in another post. But first, let me reflect on the sadness that is the B's and C's both being eliminated from the playoffs within a few days of each other. A moment of silence. Now, let's move on to the Sox. I'm mad at Tom Brady for being such an ignorant heel to Bridget, so the Sox are all I have for now.

Michael Vick gets it
Twenty-three months in prison, that is. As they say, let the healing begin. Hopefully he will clean up his act.

Biggest spread in NFL history, and
The Pats couldn't cover. Hey, at least they won. M kept saying, "AJ Feeley can't be this good. We have to be making them look this good." I told him not to yell at the TV, because his son could hear him.

Noisegate? Come on, Patriots
When I saw the headline yesterday, Pats accuse Colts of cheating, my antennae went up. Huh? I know Tom said in his postgame press conference that the stadium was noisy. But could the Colts have piped in crowd noise? Even if they did, I couldn't see the issue.
Well, apparently the NFL is saying it was CBS's mistake, not the Colts'. I know Belichick is out for blood this season, but come on. Fake crowd noise is decidedly uncool, but it just ain't the same animal as taping someone else's defensive signals. Just ain't. Sorry, M.

And the front pages
Journalist that I am, I enjoyed this roundup of front pages from all over New England, Denver and New York. I actually like the Herald's head (How Sweep It Is) the best.

The sweepest day
Sox: Win the World Series in four. My boyfriend Papelbon throws the last pitch and then promptly loses his shit. As does the rest of Boston (and about 40 miles west in Leominster). Those Rockies didn't know what hit them.
Pats: Blow out the Redskins 52 to 7. As spectacular as their play was, it got to a point where a) I was embarrassed for the 'Skins and their fans and b) I was starting to get offended by the blatant score runup.
Still, it's a good Monday. For once.

Last night's crushing of the Rockies
Holy crap, I wish I had watched last night's game. Check out this opinion piece about how good the Red Sox truly are.

The Boston sports slaughterhouse weekend
Saturday: 12-2, Red Sox over Indians.
Sunday: 49-28, Pats over Dolphins (Hey, Belichick: Can we say "f you" to the league? My mom's take: It looked like a game of catch between Tom Brady and Randy Moss.)
And the big one, of course: 11-2, Sox over Indians to clinch the American League pennant and punch our ticket to the World Series. Holy crap, is that satisfying to say. Tons of articles written about the whole thing, of course, but here's one of my favorites about the little guy, Dustin Pedroia, and his heroics last night.
Hell, even the Bruins are doing well. And much to M's happiness, BC is second in the country.
Can we just freeze this moment in time?

More Manny being Manny
So Manny says it doesn't matter if the Sox win tonight. If it were anyone else, people would be up in arms. But this is Manny Ramirez. He pretends he doesn't care but he really does.
And speaking of Manny: M and I have been busy bees entering WROR's Townie Tunes contest. M wrote a great song called Oh Manny. But we need your help. Download the song here and vote for it -- the grand prize is a $5,000 royalty check.

I don't want to talk about the Red Sox
I don't want to watch them, either. I'll have Wally (of Loren and Wally, our favorite morning show) tell me on Friday morning. I just don't have the stomach for them right now (see my post about crying).

The Patriots Videogate: The aftermath
So the punishment for taping the Jets' defensive signals has come down. And honestly, I think Belichick et al got off rather easy. I hope we can put this behind us and beat the snot out of the Chargers on Sunday.
As for me, I'll be recovering from the Lupus Walk. Saturday is a laze-around day. Whatcha up to?

In Papi we trust
Did you SEE that walk-off homer? It was amazing. I'm so glad I stayed up. Papi, you are the man.
And I wrote a similar post last year, so you continue to be the man.

Comeback!
We thought the Red Sox were dead. God help us, but we did. So we went to bed in the fifth inning, with M muttering about Boston sports teams (he's pissed about the Patriots cheating thing, too).
Well, we woke up this morning to find not only did they come back to life, but they killed the Rays. Maybe we ought to not watch more often.
