Eight weeks today

That would be Boo. And two months on Thursday. He's started laughing when I sing to him (today's selection was "Shadows in the Moonlight" by Anne Murray; I'm a closet Anne fan [pardon the pun, as she has a large lesbian following] and heard it while on hold yesterday, so it's on permanent loop in the ol' OCD head) and is cooing up a storm. Getting quite fun. He goes for his two-month well-baby appointment in a few weeks and will get his shots. Yuckola.

My shrink has pretty much ordered me to start an exercise program to help stave off anxiety. Which would also help remedy the fact that I cleaned out my closet yesterday and put away my maternity clothes, but I may have to take them out again because few of my old clothes fit. Now THAT'S depressing. Wish it would stop snowing so I could walk with the carriage outside.

Paperback writer?

So last night, I was reading the Telegram, and there was a front-page article about NaNoWriMo. My reaction: "Oh shit, it's the first! I forgot all about that!" For a moment, I thought about going up to the office, firing up the ol' Dell and banging out a few lines of prose. But then my exhausted, baby-brained, almost-31-weeks-pregnant ass decided not to move from the couch. So considering the other (happy) happenings in my life, I think I will pass this year. Same goes for NaNoBloMo -- what's hanging me up there is that I try to stay off the computer on the weekends, since I like to hang out with the three-dimensional people.

And as for the title of this post: Since Boo (our in-utero name for the baby; short for Boo Boo Bear) seems to really respond to music and loud noise, I've been playing him lots of Beatles music so he'll come out appreciating the good stuff. I now have Paperback Writer stuck firmly in my head.

Weekend plans? We have a birthday party, but that's it. Gonna hopefully work on the baby's room. And you?

You play the most annoyingly catchy songs during my commute that get into my head. Two examples from this morning:

• Baby Got Back by Sir Mix-A-Lot ("My anaconda don't want none unless you got buns, hon" is not really appropriate to be humming at your desk.)
  
• We Built This City by Starship (Blender voted it the most Awesomely Bad Song of All Time; doesn't stop me from screaming along, "Marconi plays the mamba!" every time I hear it.)

Latest song lyrics to be stuck in my head

M bought me Christina Aguilera's terrific Back to Basics album for Christmas -- he's a huge Xtina fan and has gotten me into her as well. Man, that girl can sing. B2B is a double album, and both discs have been spinning almost nonstop in my car stereo since late December. If you haven't checked it out, do so.

Anyway, the songs are catchy, and here's the latest snippet to be in heavy rotation inside my noggin -- from Here to Stay:
